Meet your Instructors
The SRE Sulfur Recovery and Amine Training Seminar will be led by Elmo Nasato—an engaging speaker and expert in the field.
Elmo Nasato is a process engineer specializing in sulfur recovery, amine treating, and sour water processing. He has over 30 years of experience in the sulfur recovery industry, including design, retrofit, start-up, and optimization of sulfur recovery units, sulfur handling units, amine units, sour water stripper units, and tail gas cleanup units. On-site field activities have included construction activities, turnaround assistance, and operator training.
Elmo graduated from the University of Waterloo, Ontario, Canada, with a B.A.Sc. in Chemical Engineering (1987) with an option in Management Science. He is currently the lead instructor and moderator for the Brimstone Vail Sulfur Recovery Symposium. He has served on the Board of Directors for Alberta Sulfur Research and the Technical Advisory Committee for the Laurence Reid Gas Conditioning Conference. Elmo has also taught courses in the Chemical Engineering departments of the University of Toronto and the University of Waterloo. He has been awarded eight patents for SRU operation, oxygen enrichment, and sulfur degassing technologies. Additionally, he has published 42 papers on topics across the sulfur recovery industry and has made over 73 presentations at conferences worldwide.
Elmo Nasato
Patrick E. Holub, PE - Pat is an experienced professional engineer with managerial expertise in project management, technical service, process design, marketing, and sales. He has over 40 years of industry knowledge in gas processing, with extensive experience in gas treating for refinery, natural gas, ammonia, LNG, and CO2 capture facilities. Pat has global experience with strong computer skills and an extensive background in process simulations, plant troubleshooting, and the application of technology to solve operating problems.
Pat graduated from Texas A&M University in College Station, TX, with a B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering. While working for Texaco Gas Plants division, he completed graduate courses in Business Administration at the University of Texas Permian Basin in Odessa, TX. He has served on the Gas Processors Suppliers Association Board of Directors, including as an officer holding positions of President, Vice President, and Treasurer. He was the recipient of the 2008 Recognition Award presented by the GPA "For Valuable Service to the Industry." He is a current Senior Advisor for the Laurence Reid Gas Conditioning Conference Advisor Committee and has previously served as a board member, including Board Chairman. He has acted as a Guest Lecturer at Texas A&M University - College Station, TX, for the Chemical Engineering Process Design Course, presenting "Basics of Gas Treating." He has been an instructor for the Petroleum Extension Service (PETE), a part of The University of Texas Continuing Education, presenting "Principles of Amine Plant Operations," where students received CE credits issued by PETEX. Pat has been awarded several patents for gas treating products and has published numerous papers and international presentations.
